Remove your factory air box which houses your engine management computer (ME as Mercedes calls it) so that your ME will no longer be cooled by outside air then loosely mount it with zip ties, bailing twine and duct tape. Then remove a great shield from your turbo, get some card board, and duct tape them both to your ME. Make sure the ME is mounted that it can flop around a bit. Next, install a shitty aftermarket code filterwith less surface area than the original, in a location allowing it to breathe mostly hot engine air rather than cool outside air. Install the filter with so much cauk that isn't rated for heat that it can easily flake away and probably be ingested by the turbo. Paint things. Poorly, without bothering to clean, prep, or mask anything. Break lots of plastic things. Ignore your maintenance schedule. Seriously though, the ME was too hot to touch at first and the paint looks like it was done by a blind 5 year old. I can't even fathom the thought that went into this. Base model C250 BTW. It's also been lightly wrecked, alignment is messed up. So his cheap POS federal super steel tires are cupping like crazy so it sounds like a helicopter driving down the road.

...this whole thing seems like a bit of a paradox to me. He obviously cares enough about how his engine bay looks to do a ridiculous mod like that and go painting things, yet he looks at that hideous caulk job and PCM haphazardly duct-taped in place and things "yes, that looks just bitchin'"?

What the bloody hell was he thinking of?

The paint looks even worse in person. I don't get it either. I'm all for modifying cars, but to do it in a way that devalues and detracts from performance and reliability? That's just dumb.

I've been wondering how much power these Merc and BMW 4 cylinders can make on the stock turbo.

Obviously the guy in the pics is not the one to ask lol

Well this particular 4 cylinder is being passed out. But it's actually a blast to drive. The new 4 cylinder is the one that's in the CLA, they have a variation for RWD platforms. And that engine, with some tuning and mods has been proven to handle close to 400hp. But as far as this engine goes, with the stock turbo, I've heard that ME tunes don't really work, it just reverts back to factory maps. So who knows?

Usually when I buy a car that is turbo I just do boltons + tune, save the serious modding for older cars with cheap engines. If it made like 400 something crank with just downpipe+tune that would be good enough for me.

I've been curious of the newer 328i vs 335 and merc equivalents due to the 4 cylinder turbo. If they don't make much more with the stock turbo it would be a car to consider in the future for when they are cheap used to mod
